EV Manufacturing Transition Support

Project Overview:

As part of a major investment to establish a next-generation EV manufacturing hub, a key automotive facility underwent a significant transformation to support the transition to electrified mobility. PSC played a pivotal role in this evolution by managing the strategic removal of CVT pulley production equipment. This work was critical in preparing the facility for the installation of advanced manufacturing systems used to produce Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) cases — core structural components of next-generation battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Scope of Work:

  • Decommissioning and removal of aging CVT pulley machining equipment.
  • Reclaiming and re-purposing factory floor space to accommodate new BEV-related die-casting equipment.
  • Supporting site readiness for the installation of BEV IPU case production systems.

Key Challenges & Solutions:

Logistics Coordination with Supply Chain:

Demolition progress occasionally exceeded the capacity of scheduled haul-away resources, risking delays. Solution: PSC supplemented logistics by providing additional trucking support to maintain removal pace.

Concurrent Work with Other Trades:

Overlapping activities in shared zones created coordination difficulties.

Solution:

PSC led daily morning huddles with all trades to align schedules, improve communication, and ensure safe operations. Adherence to Tight Scheduling Requirements: Demanding timelines and multiple contractors required flexibility and precision. Solution: Through comprehensive planning and daily activity reviews, PSC maintained momentum and achieved all critical project milestones.

Equipment Utilized:

  • 7.5 Ton Forklift
  • 15 Ton Forklift
  • 25/35 Versa-Lift
  • 40/60 Versa-Lift
  • 75 Ton Mobi-Lift
  • 300 Ton Crane
