Project Overview:
In 2024, PSC Crane & Rigging successfully executed the relocation of a 572,000-pound electrical transformer from a substation to another Substation in Ohio, covering a 30-mile distance. This critical project aimed to enhance the local power grid’s reliability and efficiency. The complex operation required extensive planning and coordination to manage the transformer’s substantial size and weight. PSC Crane & Rigging employed specialized transport equipment and heavy-duty cranes to navigate logistical challenges, including urban infrastructure and environmental constraints. The team meticulously lifted the transformer from its transport platform and precisely positioned it onto its foundation at the substation, ensuring stability and accuracy with advanced rigging techniques and state-of-the-art lifting technology.
Scope of Work:
Relocated 572,000-lb transformer 30 miles, including lifting, transport, and precise final placement.
Key Challenges & Solutions:
- Urban Route Constraints: Detailed planning and route surveys.
- Safety and Coordination: Worked closely with local authorities and utility providers.
Equipment Utilized:
